1974 XB GS Fairmont with the works.... Matching number 302 V8, t bar automatic, power steering, factory integrated air conditioning (not working), power windows, two way tailgate with power rear glass, remote side mirror and factory Mushroom Beige with Saddle trim with cloth inserts. Good solid and honest well optioned car, pretty amazing it has survived as these were often pulled apart as parts cars and seams when every you find a well optioned car it's either rusted beyond restoration, missing it's motor or if it's a solid car it's a 6 cylinder Falcon 500 you don't want to tip heaps of money into... So this is a great find but does still need work and selling as a project car. The colour makes it hard to see but it has a dint in the passengers rear door and a few dints in the passengers rear quarter, passengers sill has a dint behind the sill mould but doesn't seam to bad, the sill mould will need replacing though, it has a fair bit of original paint but has had repairs and has some old blends and colour variations, it's pretty good for rust given how bad these were, it has some slight rust in the drip rails but not bad enough that i think any of it has gone through to make holes and i honestly think if you got onto it it would just be able to be cleaned up and treated and repaired, thereis a spot you'll need to plate in the tailgate door apiture on the lower passengers side, the tailgate is a bit wobbly looking across the bottom but i looked inside the door and there is no rust and has had no repairs so the tailgate is great, i'd just give the lower section a skim when it gets painted... You could cruise it as it is but it really needs a full exterior respray to clean it up and it would look great for it. The drivers seat insert has some separations in the cloth, the rest of the seats are in great condition as are the door panels, the drivers arm rest has a kink in it they may just be sitting wrong but not sure, might need to replace that. The dash is mint, no cracks and still sort, the dash and everything is nice too and the carpet has been replaced at some point so really not much to do in there. Prior to me getting it it had sat for an extended period of time and when it was fired up again the fuel filter split and started a small fire, i bought it after and it had been repaired but i have since had an auto electrician go through it properly and everything works except the passengers rear door window only works off the door switch not the master on the drivers door and the bonnet has some blisters and again will need paint, it's not warped anything and was probably a 1-2 minute long fire... Still, there is enough around it and it's such a cool thing it warrants a nice respray... Other things to note... chips in the windscreen so take it out when you paint it and replace it, i've just had it lowered and it sits rad, it has new springs in the front and 2.5`` lowering blocks in the rear, they probably need to be 1.5's cos with this thing loaded with fuel and people the tailshaft will rub on the tunnel now. So... I guess i have to describe this as an easy project, it's an exterior respray, windscreen and the drivers seat repair away from being a real tidy and well optioned wagon... as with all this stuff you really need to come see it for yourself, the car is located at Nerang on the Gold Coast. 1970 XY GT Replica. This is a lovely example of a tough Aussie muscle car with unbelievable performance, look and V8 sound. All of the money has been spent with nothing to do except turn heads. I have used it for the last 2 years as a Sunday cruiseralthough it does scare my kids with the power and sound. 351 V8 Cleveland engine built through Bullets with a C4 2500 auto with a B&M quick shifter, 9 inch Diff, tubbed with 2 brand new rear tyres, shaker, and too much to list with a lot of $ spent. Have not got a dyno but would be at least 500 HP. Brakes recently done and twin thermos keep it nice and cool on any day. Just get in and drive. Serious buyers only please.
